More Books in IRANPHARMA EXPO 2018

Deputy of Cultural and Media Affairs of the General Office of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Tehran Province Promises of a Great Show with Specialized Publishers in the 3rd Pharmaceutical – Medical Sciences and Academic Book Fair.

The establishment of the Medical Sciences Book Publishers Association was one of the most important achievements of the pharmaceutical books and media exhibition of IRANPHARMA EXPO 2017. Less than two months remain to IRANPHARMA EXPO. This event is one of the biggest and most important pharmaceutical events of Iran and the MENA region. In its second edition, in order to synergize culture and industry together, specialized exhibitions for books and media were also held. This exhibition became so important that Dr. Mehrshad Kazemi, Deputy of Cultural and Media Affairs of the General Office of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Tehran Province, regards it as the number one reason for the establishment of the Medical Sciences Book Publishers Association.

Valuing this opportunity and a few weeks before this exhibition, we have interviewed Dr. Mehrshad Kazemi, Deputy of Cultural and Media Affairs of the General Office of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Tehran Province, head of the 3rd Pharmaceutical – Medical Sciences and Academic Book Fair Policy Committee and the expo director of the 2nd Exhibition on Health-Oriented Media.

IRANPHARMA Book Exhibition, Merging Industry with Science

Dr. Mehrshad Kazaemi, stating the main policy of these exhibitions as connecting the two major domains of industry and culture, which without each other will not be able to have a dynamic presence, said that: “Holding book and media exhibitions next to a major exhibition that is involved with big local and international pharmaceutical companies has gained great attention from all publishers. We have had instances of publishers who have stated that they prefer participating in this exhibitions as opposed to public book fairs, as they have professional visitors in this event.”

Dr. Kazemi also stressed the fact that identifying the audience in holding any exhibition is among the most important steps that need to be taken and he continued: “With regard of the advantages and weaknesses of the book and media exhibitions in the previous two editions of IRANPHARMA EXPO, we have made alterations in our plans and through various meetings, guidelines have been drawn as to the way with which we would be able to organize a better event with the lessons we’ve learned from the past two exhibitions in order to meet better outcomes.”

Dr. Kazemi also mentioned IRANPHARMA EXPO as one of the few exhibitions that recognize the bond between industry and culture and stated that: “Previous editions of the exhibition were so well received that they led to the establishment of the Medical Sciences Book Publishers Association.

He also said that the feedback has been good enough for publishers to follow up on the organization of the event in next years and expressed their lack of interest in participating in the public book fair which is organized every year in May.

Dr. Kazemi described specialized book fairs as platforms with better atmospheres for creating rapport between the audience and publishers and continued: “Specialized exhibitions will lead to an easier finding process for the audience and the publishers and also the relationship between industry and culture will last longer.”

He also spoke of the coupons that were distributed in previous years and their amount for this year. He said that: “The ministry of culture had appointed a budget for these coupons and this year too, following our correspondences, this will continue and the ministry, together with the cultural deputy of the ministry of culture and Islamic guidance will undertake the responsibility as it did in the last two years and different services will be provided for the students, as well as those interested in the exhibition.”

Dr. Kazemi said that the amount of these coupons for the first year was 50 million IRR for 2016 and 100 million IRR for 2017 and expressed his hopes for increasing this amount for this year too.

The head of the 3rd Pharmaceutical – Medical Sciences and Academic Book Fair Policy Committee also gave news of the increase in the number of publishers from other cities and said that: “Similar to last year in which we hosted 8 international publishers, this year, we will host other important publishers too.

The 3rd Pharmaceutical – Medical Sciences and Academic Book Fair and the 2nd Exhibition on Health-Oriented Media will be held adjacent to IRANPHARMA EXPO 2018, in September 24-26, 2018, in Imam Khomeini Musalla of Tehran.
